Daniels Padrinos (Godparents) have a store attached to their house. From what I understand it is kind of like QT or a circle K. Geraldine has been working at the store. It is just one more way for her to meet people. She said that many people come in just to chat not to buy anything.
Geraldine said that she feels like the peso there goes away a lot faster that the dollar here. And that it seems that everything is way more expensive there than it is here. I guess its in the way they say the price. For example a toilet that is around 400 pesos is $30.94. Geraldine said that when people buy their children toys their are using their whole weeks worth of pay. A toy runs about 350 pesos ($27.03). And then we wonder why people from Mexico want to come over to the US.
Geraldine's trip has been an experience and eye opener for me. I can only imagine how Geraldine feels.
Daniel and Tiffany's to do list:
1. Check to make sure there are seats available on Geraldine's return flight.
2. Save money for Daniel's mom to build a bathroom so that she does not have to walk a quarter of a mile every time she needs to use the restroom or take a shower.
